Pioneers Continue Strong HCAC Play at Hanover

HANOVER, IN — Transylvania defeated Hanover in a double header sweep to continue their strong start to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play. 

Transylvania defeated Hanover 8–1 on Tuesday afternoon at Kops-Bedel Stadium in the opening game of the afternoon. The Pioneers totaled 16 hits in the win, scoring in five different innings to pull away. Transylvania plated single runs in the second and third innings before adding two runs in both the fourth and fifth. The Pioneers capped the scoring with two runs in the seventh.

Raegan Gibson led the offense with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, including a home run, a double and three RBI. Avery Parsons added four hits and an RBI, while Emilie Young recorded two hits and scored twice. Kailey Goetz finished with two hits, and Emily Shearer and Jessica Strickland each added a hit. In the circle, Maddie Goddard earned the win, allowing one run on two hits over 5.2 innings while striking out three. Raegan Gibson and Olivia Colebank combined to close out the game.

Transylvania defeated Hanover 13–1 in five innings in the second game of the evening.The Pioneers exploded for 13 runs on 14 hits, scoring in three different innings to secure the run-rule victory. Transylvania plated six runs in the first inning to take early control, added four more in the third, and capped the scoring with three runs in the fifth.

Emilie Young led the offensive effort with a 3-for-4 performance, recording three doubles and driving in three runs. Raegan Gibson added a home run and three RBI, while Taylor Ingram collected two hits and scored twice. Emily Shearer also recorded two hits and scored two runs. Kailey Goetz and Malana Hamm each drove in two runs in the win.

In the circle, Trinity Bridges earned the win, allowing one run on one hit over 2.1 innings while striking out three. Natalie Contreras closed out the game, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts.

Transylvania improves to 19–5 overall and 3–1 in HCAC play.
