LEXINGTON, KY — Transylvania swept Berea in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, taking game one 8–0 in five innings before earning a 9–1 victory in game two.
The Pioneers set the tone early in the opener, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second to build an early cushion. Transylvania continued to apply pressure throughout, finishing with nine hits in the run-rule win.
Avery Parsons led the offense with two hits and two runs scored, while Emilie Young, Raegan Gibson, Emily Shearer, Malana Hamm, and Maddie Goddard each drove in a run. Parsons and Hamm also scored twice, and Lexi Morlan added a hit and a run in the victory.
In the circle, Transylvania combined for a two-hit shutout, striking out five and not issuing a walk to keep Berea off the scoreboard.
In game two, the Pioneers once again controlled the action, using consistent offense to pull away late after an early back-and-forth stretch.
Ella Steczynski paced the lineup with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, while Emilie Young drove in three runs. Avery Parsons added two RBI, and Anna Russelburg recorded two hits and scored once. Taylor Ingram also contributed an RBI, with Kailey Goetz, Maddie Goddard, and Lexi Morlan each scoring a run.
Transylvania tallied 10 hits in the contest and capitalized on timely hitting to separate in the later innings.
In the circle, the Pioneers held Berea to just three hits, limiting scoring chances and closing out the sweep with another strong pitching performance.
With the wins, Transylvania improves to 24–6 on the season.
