BATAVIA, OHIO - Transylvania traveled to Mount St. Joseph for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) weekend series, earning three wins to improve to 24-10 overall and 16-3 within the HCAC.
In game one, Transylvania jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 15-3 win at Midland Field.
The Pioneers scored four runs in the first inning and added three more in the second to take early control. Transylvania continued to build its lead with two runs in the third before breaking the game open with a five-run sixth inning. Kaden Ford led the offensive effort, going 2-for-5 with three RBIs, including a bases-clearing triple in the sixth inning. Ethan Dillon added two hits and two RBIs, while Nick Pietromonaco recorded two hits and drove in two runs.
Max Finn finished with three hits and an RBI, and Seita Shiratori added a hit and two RBIs as the Pioneers totaled 12 hits in the win.
On the mound, Drew Bowles earned the win, allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings with four strikeouts. Tyler Minton closed out the game with a scoreless seventh inning.
In game two, the Pioneers rallied late and held on for a 7-6 win. After trailing 5-3 following a five-run fifth inning by Mount St. Joseph, the Pioneers responded with four runs in the eighth to regain the lead. Kaden Ford delivered the key hit with a bases-clearing triple to put Transylvania back in front.
Ford finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Nick Pietromonaco led the Pioneers with three hits and an RBI. Max Finn added two hits and an RBI, and Ethan Dillon contributed a hit and an RBI in the win. On the mound, Kemper Dotson earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Luke Patton recorded the save, allowing one run over the final two innings.
Transylvania outlasted Mount St. Joseph in a 7-6 extra-inning victory on Sunday afternoon to sweep the series.
After falling behind 5-3 in the seventh inning, the Pioneers rallied with two runs in the ninth to force extra innings before scoring twice in the 10th to secure the win. Max Finn led the offensive effort with two hits and two RBIs, while Kaden Ford finished with two hits and an RBI. Brenton Alcorn added two hits and drove in a run, and Ethan Dillon contributed two RBIs in the win.
On the mound, Luke Patton earned the win with two innings of relief, allowing one run while striking out two.
Drew Bowles reached a career milestone of 200 strike outs during the weekend, adding to a strong season that has seen Bowles land HCAC Athlete of the Week honors four times thus far in the 2026 campaign.
Transylvania travels to Danville for a non-conference matchup with Centre College on Tuesday, April 28th.
