LEXINGTON, KY — Transylvania defeated Centre 8–5 on Tuesday evening at Legends Field.
The Pioneers broke through in the third inning before erupting for five runs in the fourth to take control of the game. Chris Hedinger sparked the rally with an RBI triple, while Kaden Ford and Brenton Alcorn each delivered RBI hits to extend the lead.
Transylvania added another run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Baxter Tedesco to push the advantage to 7–0.
Centre responded with three runs in the sixth and added single runs in the seventh and ninth, but the Pioneers answered in the eighth with a solo home run from Ford to maintain separation and secure the win.
Alcorn led the offense with three hits, including two doubles, and an RBI, while Ford finished with two hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Hedinger added two hits, including a triple, and an RBI, and Seita Shiratori recorded two hits and an RBI.
On the mound, Brady McFarland earned the win in relief. Giancarlo Gonzalez started with two scoreless innings, and the Pioneers used multiple arms to manage the late innings.
Transylvania improves to 16–8 on the season.
