KOKOMO, IN — Transylvania University claimed the 2026 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship on Sunday with an 11-2 win over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Kokomo.
The Pioneers punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament behind a strong offensive performance that included 12 hits and three home runs. Ethan Dillon hit a two-run homer in the third inning, while Chris Hedinger added two home runs and finished with four runs scored and two RBIs.
Transylvania broke the game open with three runs in the fourth inning and added two more in both the sixth and eighth innings. Trevor Watkins recorded two hits and two RBIs, while Brenton Alcorn finished with two doubles and two RBIs.
Henry Craig earned the win on the mound after tossing eight innings and allowing just one earned run with two strikeouts. Luke Patton pitched the ninth inning in relief.
Drew Bowles and Brenton Alcorn were named to the All-Tournament Team, while Chris Hedinger was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
