KOKOMO, IN - Transylvania University softball saw its HCAC Tournament run come to an end with a 6-5 loss to Earlham College Saturday afternoon.
After defeating Earlham earlier in the day 2-0 to stay alive, the Pioneers faced off with Earlham at 1:30 with the HCAC Tournament Championship on the line.
The Pioneers finished the HCAC Tournament with a 35-11 overall record after holding a 5-4 lead entering the seventh inning before Earlham scored twice in the bottom of the frame for the walk-off victory.
Transylvania scored first with two runs in the third inning on a two-run single from Ella Steczynski. Earlham answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by a three-run double from Shelby Hill.
Avery Parsons hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, while Kailey Goetz added an RBI groundout to tie the game at 4-4. Parsons later drove in Emily Shearer with an RBI double in the sixth inning to give the Pioneers a 5-4 advantage.
Parsons finished 2-for-3 with a home run, double and two RBIs, while Steczynski added two hits and two RBIs. Shearer also recorded a pair of hits and scored a run.
