INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Transylvania Pioneers saw their season come to a close with a 4-0 loss to Anderson University in the semifinals of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday.

Transylvania fell behind early after Anderson secured the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, seniors Jacob Jiranek and Chris Kaufman dropped a 4-6 decision, while senior Jordan Cordrey and first-year Will Wagers fell 2-6 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match featuring Tobias Mandeville and Luke Earlywine was halted at 3-5 as Anderson clinched the doubles point.

In singles play, the Pioneers competed closely across the lineup, with several matches left unfinished at the time of the decision. At No. 6 singles, Cordrey claimed the opening set before his match was halted at 6-2, 5-6. Sophomore Ravi Tedeschi also split sets at No. 2 singles, with his match stopped at 6-3, 2-6, 0-1, while Earlywine was in the midst of a tight contest at No. 5 singles, leading 6-4, 3-4 when play concluded.

Anderson secured the remaining points with straight-set victories at No. 4, No. 3, and No. 1 singles to clinch the match. Head coach Bill Carey reflected on both the match and the group's season.

"I'm really proud of the way this team competed and grew throughout the year," Carey said. "They battled in a lot of tough matches and continued to improve every step of the way. This group set a strong foundation, and I'm excited about where we're headed." Carey also recognized the program's senior class for their contributions.

"Our seniors have meant a lot to this program," he added. "Chris, Jacob, Jordan, Max, and Ale have all played important roles in building this team, and I'm grateful for everything they've given."

Chris Kaufman concludes his career ranked second all-time in program history with 74 match wins, highlighting a standout career for the Pioneers. With the result, Transylvania finishes the season with a 7-8 overall record.
