MEMPHIS, TN. — The Transylvania University women's golf team opened play Saturday at the Joe and Lee Duncan Invitational, hosted by Rhodes College at The Links at Audubon.
The Pioneers carded an opening-round team score of 328 (+40) and enter Sunday's final round in eighth place in the nine-team field. Freshman Maddie Easterling led Transylvania with a career-low round of 76, while junior Nicole Mears followed with a 79.
Sewanee sits atop the team leaderboard after an opening-round 300 (+12). Oglethorpe and Berry are tied for second at 307 (+19), followed by Maryville (Tenn.) at 311 (+23) and Piedmont at 312 (+24).
Mississippi University for Women finished the opening round at 318 (+30), while host Rhodes enters Sunday in seventh at 327 (+39), one stroke ahead of Transylvania.
The Pioneers return to The Links at Audubon on Sunday for the final 18 holes of the two-day tournament as they look to build on their opening-round performance and move up the team leaderboard.
