Anna Cook enters her second season as a Volunteer Assistant Coach with Transylvania field hockey for the fall 2022 season.
Cook brings to the Pioneers a blend of expertise coaching in Lexington as well as a four-year collegiate career at Division III Washington and Jefferson College from 2012 through 2016.
Originally from San Diego, California, Cook was a four-year defender for the Presidents. While a part of W&J’s field hockey program, the team appeared three times in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament, a run which included two hard-fought losses in the conference finals. Cook graduated from W&J in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and an associates’ degree in both Secondary Education and Religious Studies.
Since graduating from Washington & Jefferson College, Cook has taught nearby at Sayre School in Lexington, specializing in middle and upper school mathematics. Cook has also expanded her coaching acumen over that time as the girls’ lacrosse program where she was the head varsity coach, helping build the program during the past five years.
“I’m so excited to be involved in field hockey again,” states Cook of joining the Pioneers for fall 2021. “Coach Hastings is building a program with a legacy. I’m excited to join her and be a part of the process!”
