Jamie Grant

Jamie Grant is in her third season as the assistant coach of the Transylvania field hockey team for the fall 2022 season.

“To say I am excited to have Jamie on board is an understatement,” says Transylvania field hockey head coach Katie Hastings. “She is coming into her coaching career straight from the pitch where she had a tremendous impact with her team, both on and off the field. Jamie will bring a sense of excitement to the forward and midfield line as this was one of many areas of strengths for her as a player.”

Grant brings her expertise as a four-year letterwinner as a student-athlete at Ohio Wesleyan University from 2016 through 2019.

“I am ready to get started with this program beginning with this offseason and am excited to begin preparing for the upcoming fall season,” states Grant. “Having been a recent student-athlete, I believe I have an understanding of the balance required between academics and athletics and feel I can be a positive resource for the student-athletes here at Transy.”

A native of Falls Church, Virginia, Grant was a two-year captain at Ohio Wesleyan, leading the Battling Bishops in assists in her senior season while helping OWU capture a share of the North Coast Athletic Conference’s regular-season championship.

While a student-athlete, Grant excelled off the field, earning an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honor in all four years with the team and also served as an Athletic Operations Assistant within the OWU Athletic Department, assisting multiple teams with gameday operations and facilitation of home events.

During her offseasons as a collegiate athlete, Grant has sharpened her coaching resume, working with the Field Hockey Life club in Columbus, Ohio for three years. Over the past three summers, Grant has offered her time coaching for the Washington and Lee field hockey program as a coach for summer camps, the Nova Xtreme Field Hockey camps, and also as a coach for field hockey club teams in the Virginia region.

Grant graduated in December 2019 from Ohio Wesleyan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science and holds a NASM Personal Trainer Certification. Grant also obtained a CSCS strength and conditioning certification and provides strength and conditioning coaching for Transylvania athletics.

“As we got to know one another, Jamie spoke on the importance of leadership and ways in which she can contribute to helping the team into strong leaders, both on and off the pitch,” Hastings adds. “This is what our program’s vision is all about: developing selfless, confident, strong women who are learning valuable life lessons through the game of field hockey. I know Jamie embodies our team identity of ‘We Over Me’ and I am happy to officially have her as part of our Pioneer family.”
