Drew Bowles Earns HCAC Pitcher of the Week After Opening Weekend

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) baseball teams competed in week one of the 2026 season.

Pitcher of the Week:
Drew Bowles (Lexington, Ky.) Transylvania University | Pitcher | Junior - Drew Bowles earned the win in Transylvania's season opener at Maryville. Bowles pitched six innings, allowing three hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.

Notable Performances:
  • Lance Coy (Greensburg, Ind.) Anderson University | Pitcher | Freshman - Lance Coy came in to throw three innings of scoreless relief during Anderson's 4-4 tie with Alma. Coy struck out two batters, issued two walks, and allowed two hits.
  • Dylan Hogan (Floyd Knobs, Ind.) Anderson University | Infielder | Senior - Dylan Hogan went 5-for-14 with three doubles and three RBI as Anderson went 0-2-1 on the week. Hogan recorded a .357 batting average, a .357 on-base percentage, and a .571 slugging percentage for the week.
  • Miguel Serra (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) Berea College | First Base | Senior - Miguel Serra hit .667 with a .727 on-base percentage this weekend. He went 6-for-9 against Kalamazoo, Carroll, and Wittenberg, highlighted by a 4-for-4 game against Carroll. He had a double, RBI and run scored in that contest. Additionally, he pitched two shutout innings with no walks and gave up only one hit against Wittenberg.
  • Edrick Rivera (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) Berea College | Pitcher | Sophomore - Edrick Rivera had a quality start against Carroll. He received a no decision in five innings pitched, giving up three earned runs on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
  • Austin Dick (Hamilton, Ohio) Earlham College | Infielder | Freshman - Austin Dick went 3-for-4 on Saturday with a double, a triple, two RBI, and two runs scored in a 9-3 win over Olivet. The freshman set the pace early with a two-run double in the second inning and was the first Quaker to reach with a triple in a four-run eighth inning.
  • Hayden Scalf (Richmond, Ind.) Earlham College | Pitcher | Senior - Hayden Scalf picked up the win on opening day throwing two scoreless innings with just one hit, while racking up four strikeouts.
  • Calvin Schubert (Louisville, Ky.) Transylvania University | Outfielder | Senior - Calvin Schubert had a strong opening weekend for Transylvania in an opening series sweep against Maryville. Schubert recorded four hits, one run, one double, two RBI, a stolen base, and two walks. Schubert has a .400 batting average and a .500 slugging percentage after opening weekend.
