Transylvania University

Skaggs helped the Pioneers qualify for the NCAA playoffs in what was then the Small Colleges division. Skaggs, who played under Hall of Fame coaches C.M. Newton and Lee Rose, went on to be an acclaimed coach himself at the high school and college levels. He served as assistant coach at Evansville, Rice, TCU and Kentucky State. Skaggs also played tennis at Transylvania.
