LEXINGTON, Ky. - Transylvania came up short against DePauw 9-0 Saturday in college field hockey play at Hall Field.
Transy is 1-13 on the season while the Tigers are 12-5.
The Pioneers entered their senior weekend against a very tough Depauw. Transy held off the Tigers for the first 10 minutes until Margaret Ellis scored DePauw's first and ultimately game winning goal. The Tigers would go on to score five more goals in the first half, giving DePauw a 6-0 lead at half.
In the second half, the Pioneers stepped up and played a much more defensive game. Transy held DePauw to three goals in the second half.
Anna Melnykovych (Louisville, Ky.) had 14 saves for the Pioneers on the day. Key defensive saves for Transy came from Laura Hammer (Louisville, Ky.) and Amelia Reesor (Louisville, Ky.), posting three a piece.
The Pioneers will complete their regular season with a Senior Day game against Sewanee Sunday at 1 p.m. Transy seniors Nora Montgomery (Louisville, Ky.), Annie Donelan (Cincinnati, Ohio), and Robin Williams-Neal (Louisville, Ky.) will be honored prior to the contest.
