OBERLIN, Ohio - Transylvania gave up the game-tying goal to Oberlin late in the second half Saturday, then fell 3-2 in an overtime field hockey thriller.
The Pioneers are 3-10 on the year while the Yeowomen are 5-9.
Transy's
Brittany Rebalsky put her team up with her first goal, getting an assist from
Sara Clark at the 27:26 mark. That lead stood until Oberlin came back for a score seven minutes later, leaving the match tied 1-1 at halftime.
Kerri Kolarik got her second goal in as many games 11 minutes into the second half as Transy regained the lead. A stout defensive effort made that stand up until the home team found the box at 54:10. Oberlin's game-winner in overtime came at the 76:49 mark.
The Pioneers had 24 shots compared to 14 for Oberlin and Transy also led in penalty corners, 10-9.
Keeper
Sara Aschbacher had seven saves for Transy.
The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Sewanee.
