Box Score CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - Transylvania rallied from a second half deficit Monday and knocked off Thomas More 85-80 in men's college basketball action.

The Pioneers are 3-0 while the Saints are 4-1.

Transy led by as many as 11 points in the first half before the Saints rallied to go up by four in the second period. Transy senior Michael Stone put the Pioneers up for good, 78-77, on a layup with 1:52 to play. A pair of free throws by Ethan Spurlin gave Transy its biggest lead of the second half, 83-77, with nine seconds to play.

Spurlin scored 29 points to lead all players, setting his career high for the second time this season. He canned eight of 11 shots and 13 of 15 from the free throw line. He also had seven rebounds and four assists. Tate Cox added 17 points while Brandon Rash came up with 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

Ashley Hatfield came off the bench to connect on five of six shots, three of four from long range, to get 13 points.

Transy shot 59 percent from the field, including 64 percent from behind the arc. Thomas More was led by Paul Fineberg's 20 points. The Saints were at 51 percent from the field, 43 percent from three-point range.

Transy never trailed in the first half, jumping out to an 11-2 lead. The margin grew to as many as 11 in the opening period, which ended with the Pioneers on top, 41-32. Transy connected on 15 of 24 shots in the half for 65 percent with Spurlin going for 15 points and Cox 13.

Thomas More shot 43 percent in the half and was led by 10 points by Fineberg. Transy's margin could have been larger, but the visitors connected on just six of 13 free throws in the first half.

Transy finished the game hitting 26 of 39 from the free throw line while the Saints were 14 of 17. Transy also had a 28-25 edge in rebounds.

The Pioneers return to action at the Beck Center on Saturday when they face Anderson in their Heartland Conference opener at 4 p.m.
