LEXINGTON, Ky. - Wooster broke open a tight game with a flurry of second-half scoring Sunday to take a 6-1 field hockey win over Transylvania at Hall Field.
The Pioneers are 2-2 on the season while Wooster is 2-2. It was the first home game of the year for the Pioneers.
The game was deadlocked at 1-1 when Transy's
Ruth Kloha (Ashland, KY, Blazer) converted a
Molly Dean (Louisville, KY, Ballard) pass at the 22-minute mark. The Scots would lead 3-1 at intermission, then score three more times in an 18-minute span midway through the second half.
It was the team-leading third goal of the year for Kloha.
Wooster had a 27-8 edge in shots and took nine penalty corners to five for Transy. Pioneer keeper
Sara Aschbacher (Louisville, KY, Sacred Heart Academy) had 15 saves.
The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday, hosting Sewanee at noon at Hall Field. They will entertain Centre on Sunday at 1 p.m.
