LEXINGTON, Ky. - Transy battled visiting Wittenberg to the wire Thursday before a Tiger goal with less than five minutes to play provided the difference in a 3-2 loss in field hockey action at Hall Field.
Transy (1-12) scored first, getting a goal from
Maddie King 11 minutes into the game.
Sara Clark got the assist. Wittenberg forged a 1-1 tie at halftime on a goal in the 26th minute.
The Pioneers regained the advantage on Clark's goal in the 42nd minute but Wittenberg (4-11) scored the game's final two goals, getting the winner at the 65:32 mark. Transy had the ball in the Tigers' end of the field for much of the remainder of the game, but couldn't find the goal.

Sara Aschbacher had seven saves for the Pioneers, who took six shots while Wittenberg had 15. Wittenberg had a 7-4 edge in penalty corners.
Transy is back in action on Saturday, taking on Sewanee at 2 p.m. in a Southern Athletic Association match at Hall Field. Senior Day will also be celebrated with fourth-year players
