Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. – Brandon Rash scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half Wednesday and Barrett Meyer added 18 more, leading Transylvania past 83-63 Wednesday in men's Heartland Conference basketball action at the Beck Center.

The Pioneers improved their record to 4-2, 2-0 HCAC, while the Quakers drop to 1-7, 0-3 HCAC.

Transy, playing in its first home contest of the season, lit up the scoreboard from behind the three-point arc over the first 20 minutes, canning 10 of 21, to grab a 39-34 advantage at intermission.

But Transy made just three baskets inside the arc, allowing the Quakers to stay in range. Transy shot 39 percent overall in the half as it built a lead of as many as nine points while Earlham was at 52 percent but never led. Meyer had three triples and 11 points in the period while Tate Cox came off the bench to hit three more for nine points.

Rash, honored prior to the contest for reaching the 1,000-point plateau, contributed six points.

Tyler Lewers paced the visitors with 12 first-half points on five-of-seven shooting.

Transy steadily pulled away in the second half, building margin of as many as 21 points. Rash finished with 18 points  to go with five rebounds and five assists.

Meyer's 18 points was accompanied by seven boards, one assist, and one steal.

They were joined in double figures by Cox, who had 12 points, including four-of-five shooting from three-point range, and Ethan Spurlin and Parker Stansberry, who had 10 each. Spurlin had his second double-double with 10 rebounds to go with four assists. Seven of Stansberry's points came in the second period.

Nick Fudge hit all three of his treys for nine points.

Transy shot 55 percent in the second half and 47 percent for the game while Earlham cooled to 33 percent in the second period to finish at 42 percent overall. Four Quakers hit double figures, led by 16 each from Jack O'Flaherty and Lewers.

Each team had 35 rebounds and Transy committed just six turnovers to 13 for the visitors. Transy's bench outscored Earlham's reserves, 18-5,with Cox getting 12 and Taylor Botkin adding six.

Transy finished the game connecting on 16 of 32 from long range while Earlham was at six of 20.

Rash's 18 points gave him 1,057 for his career while Meyer moved within nine points of the milestone at 991.

Transy is back in action at home on Saturday, hosting HCAC rival Manchester at 3 p.m.
