Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. - Transylvania women's basketball passed the test presented by the Roanoke Maroons on Tuesday afternoon, notching their eighth win of the season in the 76-64 win.

Junior guard Nicole Coffman led the way for the Pioneers, recording 24 points, going 9-13 from the floor and 6-6 from the foul line. Also in double-digits was senior teammate Madisen Webb with 15 points and sophomore Katelyn Smith with 14.

The Pioneers took a swift start, going on a 14-3 run in the opening four minutes. Transylvania pushed the lead to 14, up 20-6, at the 14-minute mark, but the Maroons would slowly chip away at the advantage.

Junior guard Alex McKenzie was sent to the bench after earning an early three fouls, giving the Maroons a chance to recover. The Pioneer lead dwindled from 12 to seven in two minutes, and down to two, 34-32, after a pair of made free throws by Roanoke.

A Maroon foul and travel gave the advantage back to the Pioneers, as they managed to net a 42-36 lead by the halftime buzzer.

Roanoke's full court pressure upset Transylvania in the opening minutes of the second, cutting the Pioneer lead to one within three minutes. A nicely-timed 3-pointer from Smith and a layup by freshman Jordin Fender gave the Pioneers a little breathing room, but the Maroons refused to go away.

With 10 minutes left in regulation, Roanoke's leading scorer and senior point guard Paxton Gwin fouled out. Two additional Maroons would foul out in the remaining minutes of the contest, leaving the door wide open for the Pioneers to pull ahead.

Six-straight free throws down the stretch by Coffman and Webb would solidify the Pioneer win, 76-64, recording their second win of the Pat Deacon Classic.

Transylvania returns to action out west, hosting the Scottsdale Shootaround in Scottsdale, Arizona on December 29 facing Pacific Lutheran University at 4 p.m.
