DEFIANCE, Ohio - Transylvania men's tennis triumphed over the Franklin Grizzlies Friday, capping their second-straight 5-4 victory.
The top two seeded doubles teams of
Robert Albrecht and
Dylan Conner and Josh Buckman and
Steven Mayborg saw success on the court to open the match, each trumping their Franklin opponents. Buckman and Mayborg pushed the super set to a tiebreak, winning 9-8 (7-3).
The Pioneers' and Grizzlies split the six singles matches, with Transylvania taking the top three seeds thanks to Albrecht, Conner and Buckman. Two new Pioneers were added to the mix at the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds:
Eli Hack and
Chris Samaan. Despite strong play, both fell in two sets, 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively.
Transylvania (3-6, 3-2 HCAC) continues their road trip tomorrow to face Anderson at 10 a.m. before returning home for their final two matches of the 2014 campaign.
