LEXINGTON, Ky. - Transylvania men's tennis secured the No.3 seed in this weekend's Heartland Conference tournament with Thursday's 8-1 victory over the Hanover Panthers.

With showers luming, the Pioneers managed to stay dry despite two back-to-back rain out days at the Pioneer Tennis Complex. But, the lack of play didn't affect their performance. Transylvania swept all six singles matches in dominating fashion, while also nabbing two doubles victories, stretching their win streak to four-straight matches.
 
The duo of Robert Albrecht and Joshua Buckman overcame the Hanover doubles team in a close 8-6 win, while Steven Mayborg and Reza Haider shutout their opponents in the super set, 8-0.

In singles, two of the most decisive victories came at the No. 2 and No. 5 seeds with Dylan Conner and Steven Mayborg trumping Hanover 6-0, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-1, respectively. No. 1-seeded Albrecht managed a quick victory over Reid Clark, 6-1, 6-3, while Buckman took set one 6-2 from his competitor, managing a win in a closer second set, 6-4. No. 6 Seth Gannon also saw action on Thursday, handidly defeating his Hanover opponent, 6-2, 6-2.

Senior Patrick Richardson was honored pre-match for his four years of dedication to the men's tennis program. Richardson went on to win in singles, 6-3, 6-0.

The Pioneers will complete Tuesday's Mount St. Joseph match tomorrow, Friday, May 2 in Cincinnati at 2:30 p.m. before heading to Indianapolis, Ind. for the HCAC Tournament on Saturday.
