INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The Transylvania University men's tennis team dropped its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal match to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Engineers by a 5-1 decision. The tournament was being held at the West Indy Racquet Club.
The duo of Dylan Conner and Luke Groene picked up the only point of the match for the Pioneers, winning their doubles contest by a score of 8-5. Transylvania lost both of its other doubles matchups by margins of 8-2 and 8-0.
The Pioneers entered singles action trailing 2-1. Conner lost the #2 singles match 6-2 and 6-1 to push the Rose-Hulman lead to 3-1. After Zachary Meikle lost his match 6-1/6-2, the Pioneers needed to wins in the #5 and #6 matchups but failed to pick up points in either. Reza Haider dropped his contest 6-1 and 6-4, sealing the win for the Engineers, handing the Pioneers the loss.
Transylvania finished its season 5-8 and 4-4 in HCAC play.
