Lexington, Ky. – The Transylvania field hockey team extended their winning streak to three games in a row, as they defeated the Concordia-Wisconsin Falcons in stunning fashion, 1-0 in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Pat Deacon Stadium.

After struggling through two halves of scoreless field hockey action, the Pioneers and Falcons headed to overtime in hopes of capturing the elusive game-winning goal. After five minutes of back-and-forth action, the Pioneers took control of the ball and drove it towards the Concordia defensive line. Sophomore forward Caroline Patrick took the ball towards the right side of the Falcons goal and fired a shot across the goal and into the back of the net, earning the Transylvania victory.

The win was the third in a row and fourth in the last five games for the Pioneers. The winning streak is the team's longest since 2013. With the fourth victory of the season, the Pioneers have now eclipsed their combined win total in the previous two seasons.

The Pioneers were led on offense by Patrick and junior midfielder Jessica Chandler who recorded three and two shots respectively.

"I am really pleased with the team's efforts over the last few weeks," said Sarah Humphries, Transylvania Field Hockey Head Coach. "We are starting to hit our stride and really understand how each other play, and where we need to be on the field to best support one another. I am very excited for the remainder of the season as we are peaking at the right time."

Next up, the Pioneers will look to extend their hot streak as they travel to Harrisonburg, Virginia to take on Virginia Wesleyan. The game is set for a 1:00 PM start time on Sunday, Oct. 16.
