Box Score

Richmond, Ind. – Bolstered by a nearly perfect second quarter, the Transylvania women's basketball team posted a 62-49 win against the Earlham College Quakers Wednesday evening at Schuckman Court.

Trailing 15-12 after the first quarter, the Pioneers responded by outscoring Earlham 20 to 3 in the second quarter to wrest away control on the way to their 15th win of the season, while raising their Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference record to 10-3.

Earlham fell to 4-16 overall, and 4-9 in HCAC competition.

The lone score for Earlham in the second quarter came on a made three-pointer by Acacia Tenette on the first possession of the period. The Pioneers responded with an improbable 20-0 run to finish out the half.

The Pioneers took the lead for good on a three-pointer from sophomore guard Ashton Woodard with 7:11 left in the half.

Transylvania played exquisite defense beyond the second quarter, holding the Quakers to 26.4 percent shooting from the field for the day, and 4-for-20 shooting from three-point range.

The Pioneers were led by sophomore guard Shelby Boyle, who notched another monster double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds to go with three steals and two blocks.

The Pioneers had another busy day at the free throw line, shooting 16-for-22.

Transylvania is back in action on Saturday, February 3 when the Pioneers visit the Manchester University Spartans in North Manchester, Indiana. Tipoff between Manchester and Transylvania is set for 1:00 p.m. at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
