Transylvania men's basketball approaches 2019 Don Lane Classic on Tuesday with win number 300 on deck for Brian Lane

TOURNAMENT HEADQUARTERS

Lexington, Ky. – Four premier teams from conferences in the Great Lakes region will compete in the 10th installment of the Don Lane Classic presented by Toyota on Nicholasville Superstore on December 17-18 at the Clive M. Beck Center on the campus of Transylvania University.

The annual holiday tournament which traditionally falls the week before Christmas Day will feature the Marietta University Pioneers of the Ohio Athletic Conference, the Albion College Britons from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the Depauw University Tigers of the North Coast Athletic Conference, and the Transylvania men's basketball team out of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

After a three-team affair in the 2018 tournament, this year's format will return to a four-team bracket format elapsing over Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon concluding with Wednesday's 3:00 p.m. Championship game.

Tuesday's action tips off at 1:00 p.m. with an all-Pioneer showdown pitting Transylvania versus Marietta, followed by Albion versus Depauw at 3:00 p.m. in the second game of the doubleheader.

Tuesday's losing teams will face one another in Wednesday's consolation game at 1:00 p.m. followed by the championship game between Tuesday's winning teams on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

Tickets for one-day passes are $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 5-17 and seniors age 65 and over. Two days passes are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 5-17 and seniors age 65 and over. Children age 4 and under are admitted for free.

For the first time in the 10-year history of the tournament, named after Transylvania basketball coaching icon Don Lane, the classic is sponsored by Toyota of Nicholasville Superstore. The tournament honors Lane, who guided the Pioneers as their head coach from 1975 through 2001 and reigns as the program's all-time leader in coaching victories with 509.

This year offers potential for a poignant family moment as Don's son Brian, now in his 18th year as head coach of the Pioneers, enters the week on the verge of his 300th head-coaching victory, all coming at Transylvania. Lane carries an overall coaching record of 299-189 entering Saturday's regular-season game against Anderson University prior to Tuesday's contest against Marietta. The younger Lane claimed his 299th career victory on Saturday in a 99-81 win against Manchester to set the stage for an exciting week at home.

All four games will be livestreamed via the Transy Sports Network.
