Lexington, Ky. – The Transylvania field hockey team continues its 2021 season with this weekend's Southern Athletic Association Tournament in Mequon, Wisconsin, beginning Friday, November 5 against the Sewanee Tigers in a quarterfinal matchup.
The five-team tournament will be held on the campus of conference member Concordia Wisconsin University to crown the SAA's Tournament Champion. The No. 5 seed Pioneers will face the No. 4 seed Tigers in the quarterfinal round on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time, 1:00 p.m. local time for a bid into the following day's semifinal against No. 1 seed Centre on Saturday, November 6 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time.
The SAA Tournament wraps up on Sunday with the championship match to determine the conference champion.
Transylvania and Sewanee have faced off twice this season, playing each other on back-to-back days in Sewanee, Tennessee on October 9 and October 10 this season. Sewanee won the conference-designated match, 2-0 on the 9th and 3-0 the following day on the 10th.
This marks the first SAA Tournament held in two seasons after last year's SAA schedule was cancelled by the pandemic.
