Box Score Warsaw, Ind. – The Transylvania men's tennis team produced its second consecutive dominant win in conference play on Saturday afternoon in a 9-0 dual match against the Manchester University Spartans on Saturday afternoon at Eastlake Athletic Club.
Transylvania sharpened its record to 3-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play and 4-4 overall as the Pioneers reeled off their second consecutive 9-0 against a conference opponent. Manchester dropped to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the HCAC.
Nick McNamee and Noah McNamee ignited the day for Transy with a scintillating 8-1 win in No. 2 doubles. Arjun Gupta and Eli Skaggs increased the Pioneer grip with an 8-2 victory in No. 1 doubles, and Jon-Michael Schulte and Jared Wells delivered a 3-0 start to their team with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Transylvania continued to sizzle in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Gupta claimed the spoils in No. 1 singles with a 6-2 6-3 win over Isaac Miller while Nick NcNamee swept Samuel Hollingsworth, 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles. Noah McNamee posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles while Schulte cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 4 spot.
Eli Skaggs built a 4-1 lead in No. 5 singles before his opponent had to retire, and Hunter Gregg tallied the 9-0 count with a 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 6 singles.
Transylvania will venture to Hanover College on Sunday for its final game of the regular season. The Pioneers and Panthers are scheduled to square off at 11:00 a.m. at Zeddies Tennis Center.
