NCAA TOURNAMENT BRACKET

INDIANAPOLIS – The Transylvania men's lacrosse team will commence the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship with a first-round matchup against the No. 18 Colorado College Tigers on Saturday, May 15 at 1:00 p.m. in Danville, Kentucky on the campus of Centre College.

The Pioneers' first-round assignment was announced on Sunday evening during the 2021 tournament selection show on NCAA.com.

The bracketing sends the Pioneers approximately 45 minutes south of Lexington to the campus of rival Centre College, which was one of the teams chosen to host a first-round pod. Centre will face the Denison University Big Red on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the other first-round game with the winners of the two games advancing to play one another in the second round on Sunday, May 16 in Danville at 2:00 p.m.

The first-round matchup between Transylvania (13-2 overall, 4-0 HCLC) and Colorado College (11-3, 4-0 SCAC) marks the second meeting ever between the two teams. The Pioneers and Tigers last squared off on February 17, 2017 in a nonconference match held in Nashville, Tennessee at the Ensworth School. The Tigers won the Pioneers' 2017 season opener by a tally of 9-5.

The Pioneers clinched their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth on Saturday, beating Hanover in the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference Championship, 25-6 to capture their sixth consecutive conference tournament crown and the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Colorado College, based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, advanced into the NCAA Tournament by defeating Southwestern (Texas) University, 31-11 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship on May 2.

Transylvania is making its fourth overall NCAA Tournament appearance in program history while Colorado College is making its eighth overall NCAA Tournament entry. The 2021 matchup marks the first time that the Pioneers have faced a team from outside the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
