Transylvania field hockey outpaced by Kenyon on the road in Sunday nonconference matchup

Gambier, Ohio – The Transylvania field hockey team could not find its offensive rhythm in a 5-0 loss against the Kenyon College Ladies on Sunday afternoon at The Field at Benson Bowl on Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops the Pioneers to 0-7 on the year while the win brings the Ladies to 4-2 on the season.

Transylvania fell behind early as the Ladies scored the opening goal two minutes into the first period on a successful penalty corner mode of attack. Kenyon went on to score two more goals in the second period to take a 3-0 lead into the break. Libby Bringard stood strong in goal, facing 17 shots in the opening half while collecting eight saves. The freshman for the third straight match eclipsed her career high in saves, standing tall in goal with 12 total for the day.

The Ladies went on to score one goal in each of the remaining periods to close out the game with a sturdy lead. The Pioneers struggled to control possession of the ball as the Ladies displayed the majority of the possession for the day.
