Nicholasville, Ky. - On Sunday afternoon, the Transylvania University men's tennis team took on Berea College out of Berea, Kentucky. The match was played at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky, the home tennis court for the Transylvania Pioneers. 

In the Pioneers' previous matchup on Saturday, they had taken on Hanover College and came up short, with the Pios taking three wins and Hanover earning six wins to take the match. 

Today, the Pioneers came out with energy and looked poised for a great day on the courts. To start the day, in the three doubles matches, the Pioneers took all three wins. Senior Nick McNamee and Elijah Skaggs took the convincing win in number one doubles with a score of 8-0. First-year Ty Crabtree and sophomore Jared Wells took another big win in number two doubles with a score of 8-3. To round out the doubles matches, Transylvania seniors Hunter Gregg and Parker Rowton won with another final score of 8-0.

As for the singles matches, the Pioneers kept up the pace and continued to perform on the courts at Top Seed Tennis Club. Skaggs won his number one singles match in two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-4. Rowton won at number two singles in a close, three set match, with scores of 4-6, 7-6, and 1-0. First-year Jacob Cooper won his match at number three singles with scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Sophomore Lane Thomas won at number four singles, 7-5 and a dominant 6-0 win. Fellow sophomores Paul Hughes and and Jack Dodds both won their matches in excellent fashion, Hughes winning 6-1 in both games while Dodds won 6-0 and 6-1. 

In their next outing, the Pioneers will travel to Anderson, Indiana to take on the Anderson College Ravens on Saturday, April 9, with an 11:00 AM scheduled start.
