Transylvania men's tennis grab 9-0 Senior Day win over Manchester on Saturday

Nicholasville, Ky. – The Transylvania men's tennis team came up with a decisive 9-0 win over the Manchester University Spartans at Top Seed Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon, for Senior Day. 

Before the match got underway, the team recognized seniors Nick McNamee and Hunter Gregg for their accomplishments throughout their careers at Transylvania, then took to the courts looking to finish the regular season on a strong note.

The Pioneers had a great round overall in doubles play, as the duo of McNamee and Elijah Skaggs grabbed an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles. Ty Crabtree and Jacob Cooper prevailed in a closely played set with an 8-6 score in the No. 2 spot. Gregg and Lane Thomas also played a strong set as they won in No. 3 doubles 8-1.

The Transy team continued to assert themselves throughout the afternoon once singles play began, starting with McNamee who won in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-4. In the No. 2 spot Skaggs took care of business with a 6-0, 6-0 result, and Gregg followed suit with a 6-4, 6-0 final. Jacob Cooper took the win in No. 4 singles in a tiebreaker, and to wrap up the day Crabtree and Thomas finished up the clean sweep with 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 triumphs respectively.

All in all, Transylvania finished the day with a 9-0 win having taken every set in both doubles and singles play.

With the masterful conference win now in the bag, the Pioneers complete the regular season and look ahead to the HCAC Tournament, which begins on Friday, May 6th, at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville.
