LEXINGTON - Transy Volleyball earned its 10th straight victory, sweeping Hanover College 25-22, 26-24, and 25-19. The Pioneers were tied with Hanover for first place in the HCAC standings before the match. The win over Hanover was the 7th in a row over the Panthers and gave Hanover its first conference loss of the season.
The win improves Transy to 18-5 overall and 5-0 in the HCAC. It's the 14th win all time vs the Panthers.
Neither team could pull away from the other, as the first set was tied late at 20-20. An attack error by the Panthers gave Transy the lead and a kill by
Megan Sweeney made it 22-20 Transy. The set would be 24-22 Transy until
Grace Ward earned her fourth kill of the set to give Transy the 25-22 set win.
Hanover managed to gain an early lead in the second set until Transy went on a six point run, tying Hanover 9-9. The Pioneers jumped out to a 20-16 lead but Hanover would go on a 4-0 run to tie the set at 20-20. Transy had a chance to end the set after being up 24-23 but Hanover's Abbey McCoy tied the set. Cate Scheper put the set away with her 7th kill of the night.
Kayden Holcomb earned 8 of her 13 kills in the third set. Hanover struggled to stop the junior all set as Holcomb played a key role in leading the Pioneers to their 5th straight conference sweep. Transy would win the set 25-19.

Isabella Myers and Holcomb finished the match with 13 kills.
Suzanne Klosterman finished with 7 kills and 2 blocks.
Jasmine Koonce finished with 4 blocks.
Ava Beltsos had 2 aces for the night, along with one each for
Grace Ward and
Maggie Harrison. Ward also finished the night with 43 assists, moving her career total to 3,845. Ward is now 100Â assists away from breaking the all time assist record held by assistant coach
Hannah Talkers.
Transy Volleyball also hosted middle school night. Students from middle schools across Lexington were in attendance tonight and after the game the Pioneers held a clinic for the middle schoolers.
The Pioneers are back on the road for their next three matches. They'll face Adrian College and Albion College this Saturday starting at 10 AM.
