LEXINGTON - The Transylvania Men's soccer team is moving on to the HCAC semifinals after defeating Defiance College in a classic.. Transy defeated the Yellow Jackets 1-0 after winning 4-3 in PK's. Transy hosted the opening round of the HCAC tournament after securing te 4 seed with their win over Franklin on Wednesday in the regular season finale. Â
The Pioneers out shot the Yellow Jackets the first half but no team could find the back of the net.
The physicality was a big factor in today's game as both teams ramped up the intensity to match the postseason competition. Both team's defenses made huge stops to force overtime and penalty kicks.

Nolan Yantz had his best performance of the season at the right time for Transy, today keeping every shot opportunity in regulation and overtime out, having a season high 8 saves on the day. Yantz made a huge stop in PK's, setting his team up for the eventual win as 2 penalty kick attempts later
Jacob Renneker sent Transy into the semi's with the game winning penalty kick.Â
With this thrilling PK win, the Pioneers play Wednesday November 1st in the HCAC Semifinals at Manchester College.
"Survive and advance. It was a great performance today from our back line and from Rex (Nolan) in goal," Ben Federici said. "I thought we showed a heck of a lot of grit...now we are on to Wednesday."
