Today, Transy Athletics celebrated Title IX with Transy female-sport alumni at the Beck Center during the women's basketball game. A collection of female-sport alumni represented each of the female sports here at Transylvania and were recognized at halftime and greeted by Dr. Holly Sheilley at half court to receive a t-shirt and gather together in front of the Pioneer crowd. These former athletes ranged in graduate years from 1971 to 2022, a true representation of the tradition of female sport at Transylvania. It was a wonderful moment to soak in the way Title IX allowed for each of the trailblazers to continue to create more opportunities for the women that followed in their footsteps. We are forever grateful for the opportunity to play, especially at the collegiate level.

We hope this event will serve as the kickoff for the next 50 years as we build on the landmark law so future generations understand their rights to equal access and opportunity.
The final score of the HCAC matchup with Defiance was 76-33. #2 Transy Women's Basketball went up 33-7 in the first quarter and continued their dominance to the end, holding the Yellow Jackets to single digits in three of the four quarters of the game.
The #2 Pioneers are now 21-0 overall and 14-0 in the HCAC. They will be at home next Wednesday against MSJ for the 7:00 PM game at Beck.
