The Pioneers Men's Lacrosse team traveled this Wednesday to Ohio where they played the Capital University Comets. Today is the first game of an extended amount of time on the road for the Pioneers as they have 4 more away games after this one.
After the first quarter, the Pioneers made adjustments to restart including Jackson Wilson moving in goal. The Pios started out hot on the offensive side in the second quarter. Senior, AJ Teague scored within seconds of the quarter lacing his shot unassisted to get the Bats on the board. Senior Will Warner also took the opportunity to get involved, scoring Transy's following goal with about 10 minutes left in the half.
Comebacks are no stranger to the Pioneers and aimed to help it happen, freshman Casey Fagan went on a tear scoring the next three goals of the game in a row all assisted having a hat trick in the first half. This showed how quickly the Pioneer offense can score when they are all on the same page, but also what the future can hold for Fagan and this program. The half ended 5-13 as the Pioneers chipped away against the Comets' lead.
The second half would prove bountiful for the Pioneers as senior Dalton Hubbs got into the contest scoring a couple of minutes into the third. Freshman Parker Rowland scored his first career goal today with three minutes left. Followed by another Will Warner goal with the Pios being the last to score in the quarter. In the fourth Dalton Hubbs continued his attack netting two straight goals giving him a hat trick on the day.
The Pios matched their scoring high of the season and led in faceoff wins, to go along with a career high saves for Wilson as he had seven. The comeback ran out of time for the Pioneers with a 10-18 final.
The Pioneers will play on the road again this Saturday, March 18th at 1:00PM as they take on Wittenberg in Springfield, OH.
