The Transy Men's Tennis team travelled to North Manchester, IN Saturday for an away match against
HCAC foe Manchester University. The Pioneers struck early and often, coming away with a convincing 9-
0 win to improve their record to 7-9 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Doubles play saw the Pioneers strike first blood, winning all three matches to take a 3-0 lead. Arjun
Gupta and
Chris Kaufmann finished first with an 8-1 win at #1. Another 8-1 win from Eli Skaggs and
Jordan Cordrey at #2 followed by an 8-2 victory from
Jared Wells and
Alejandro Perez Canedo at #3 gave
the Pioneers a big advantage heading into the singles.
The six singles matches saw more of the same from the Transy side. Skaggs was the first to complete a
win, polishing off a 6-0, 6-0 win at #2. Soon after,
Kaden MacDonald gave the Pioneers an
insurmountable 5-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6. Perez Canedo kept the momentum for Transy,
winning at #3 6-0, 6-1. The sweep was completed with wins at #1 from Kaufmann (6-0, 6-2), Cordrey at
#4 (6-1, 6-0) and Wells at #5 (6-2, 6-0).
The Pioneers have a week off before completing the HCAC regular season on Saturday, April 22 at
Earlham.
