The Transy Men's Tennis team celebrated Senior Day on Sunday by welcoming HCAC opponent
Anderson to the Transy tennis courts. A 7-2 Pioneer victory completed the festivities of the day and
pushed their record to 2-1 in HCAC competition.
The Pioneers swarmed in doubles, dropping a total of three games in the three matches.
Arjun Gupta
and
Chris Kaufmann started the scoring with an 8-0 victory at #1. Eli Skaggs and
Jared Wells kept the
momentum on the side of the home team by winning 8-1 at #2, and
Kaden MacDonald and Jordan
Cordrey finished the doubles portion of the match with an 8-2 win at #3.
With a 3-0 lead heading into the singles matches the Pioneers maintained their grip on the match. Gupta
was the first to finish his singles match, winning 6-1, 6-0 at #2. Skaggs followed closely behind with an
identical score in his win at #3. Kaufmann completed the first round of singles matches with a 6-1, 6-2
victory at #1.
The next round of matches on Transy's three courts had
Alejandro Perez Canedo win a 6-0, 6-2 decision
at #4. Cordrey found himself in a tiebreak for the deciding set in his #5 singles match, but ultimately fell
6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (8). Senior
Jack Kaufer played the #6 spot in the lineup. In front of cheering teammates and
his parents, Kaufer fell short, losing 6-0, 6-0.
The Pioneers will next welcome HCAC foe Rose-Hulman on Thursday, April 13 at 2:00 PM at Top Seed
Tennis Club.
