On the road at Manchester, #22 Transy Softball outscored HCAC opponent Manchester 17-0 with two shutouts for their doubleheader today.
Junior Carlee Jeter earned her 13th win of the season with a 10-0 win over the Spartans with two strikeouts in five innings with the run-rule shutout win.
For their first game, the Pioneers started with two runs in the top of the first inning. Senior Abby Frazier singled, freshman Katie Mewes laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Frazier into scoring position. Senior Annie Shuck put the ball in play and scored Frazier. Senior Taylor Senter singled up the middle, moving Shuck to third. Junior Stella Wulker scored Shuck on an infield single.
The Pioneers were back on the board with six runs in the third inning starting with a single from Mewes. Shuck had an RBI double to right center to score Mewes. Senter put the ball in play to cause a Manchester error and moved Shuck to third. Wulker sent a homerun over the center field fence to earn three runs in one shot. Sophomore Emilie Teall started it up again with a single through the left side. Teall scored on an RBI single to right center from junior Hadlee Carter. Ry'Ann Tharp's triple to left center scored Carter to make it 8-0 Transy.
In the top of the fifth, the Pioneers added their final two runs starting with a double from Teall. Junior Kinsey Smith singled down the left field line to score Teall. Tharp reached first on a fielder's choice, stole second, and scored on an RBI single to left from Frazier.
In game two, the Pioneers again put up two in the top of the first. Shuck walked, followed by Setner putting the ball in play for a Manchester error and advancing Shuck. Wulker had a 2RBI double to center to give the 2-0 lead. They made it 3-0 in the top of the second with Carter triple followed by an RBI single up the middle from Tharp.
At the top of the fourth, Smith led off with a single up the middle (pinch runner Addy Mack). Frazier advanced Mack with a bunt single. Emily Hestand pinch hit and sent a single through the left side to score Mack and Frazier. Hestand would also score on an RBI single to center from Annie Shuck making it 6-0. They would add one more in the top of the seventh starting with a walk for Addy Mack. Mewes doubled to center field scoring Mack for the 7-0 final.
Freshman Sophie Moshos earned her eighth win with four strikeouts, in seven innings and scattered just two hits in the shutout.
