"Being able to use the whole field and the sidelines really helped us in getting multiple shots on goal along with our 5 goals we scored. I thought we came ready to compete and we have been focusing on the fundamentals along with celebrating the small things," Head Coach Natalie Hernandez said. "This was a great first game and a quality team win". The Pioneers offense put up 19 shots on goal against Elms, giving the Pioneers' defense an easy afternoon.
Three of Transy's five goals came unassisted.
Catherine Harney put the final nail in the coffin with her first goal of the season, scoring 10:06 into the final quarter to cap off a lopsided victory for Transy.
Transy continues to show improvement, building off of last season. "Preparing for this season started last off season," Hernandez said. " The team had a quality spring season and put the work in over the summer so when we came together in preseason we were able to start right where we left off. We have been really focusing on positioning and creating opportunities for goals and I think that showed this game. I'm proud of the team for grinding out preseason and a long flight to come out focused and ready to compete".
Transy will enjoy their Saturday off before getting back to action Sunday in Connecticut against Western Connecticut State at 11:30 PM in Dansbury.
