LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania University defeated Franklin College in their first HCAC competition of the season, 7-0. 

Doubles

1: Maria Hayes and Katherine Taylor defeated Franklin's Sydney Carson and Ailyn Hendricks, 6-2. 
2: Lilly Hartman and Paulina Razo-Zapata defeated Franklin's Brenna Atchinson and Sofie Ballesteros, 6-0. 
3: Eva Clark and Maddy Williams defeated Franklin's Mattie Foster and Lydia Jordan, 6-0. 

Singles

1. Katherine Taylor defeated Franklin's Ailyn Hendricks 6-0 in set one and 6-3 in set two. 
2. Paulina Razo-Zapata defeated Franklin's Sydney Carson 6-0 in set one and 6-2 in set two. 
3. Maria Hayes defeated Franklin's Sofie Ballesteros 6-2 in set one and 6-0 in set two. 
4. Lilly Hartman defeated Franklin's Brenna Atchinson 6-2 in both sets. 
5. Maddy Williams defeated Franklin's Michiah Draper 6-2 in set one and 6-0 in set two. 
6. Eva Clark defeated Franklin's Tamara Ilic, 7-6 in set one and 6-1 in set two. 

Head Coach Bill Carey was excited to see the quick start against an HCAC opponent. 

"Great opening to conference play today. Got off to a fast start, which is important with the new shortened doubles format and seven point play," Carey said. "All three doubles teams looked great and jumped out to a quick lead. Singles were strong up and down the lineup. I was excited for Paulina and Lilly to get their first conference wins, Katherine was very strong at the top of the lineup and Maria, Maddy Williams and Eva all played really well. Shouts to Meredith for a great exhibition win and Josie, Maddie and Abby Collins for strong performances as well. As the first dual match in a long season with new players and new partners there are areas for growth but so much to be excited about this lineup. Looking forward to hosting Manchester in two weeks."

Up next for Transylvania is a match up with Manchester on Saturday, October 19th at noon at the Top Seed Tennis Club in Lexington.
