Piedmont got the better of the Transy Men's Tennis team at Top Seed Tennis Club this afternoon, nudging out a 5-4 win in a thrilling match. The loss drops the Pioneers to 4-2 on the season.

For the third match in a row Transy won two out of the three doubles matches contested.
Chris Kaufmann and
Arjun Gupta won the first match to finish 8-4 at #1 doubles. When
Jordan Cordrey and Eli Skaggs lost an 805 decision at #2 all eyes went to the third court.
Jared Wells and
Jacob Jiranek won their match in a tiebreak to give the Pioneers a 2-1 advantage when singles play began.

The singles matches were hard fought on all six courts. The Lions won the first three matches to finish, beating
Chase Moreman (#4),
Jordan Cordrey (#5), and
Jared Wells (#6). With the Pioneers down 4-2 in the match count they looked to the top of the lineup to stage a comeback.

Chris Kaufmann finished first of the last three matches on, winning in a match tiebreak at #1 singles. Alejandro Perez-Canedo also pulled out a close match in a match tiebreak at #3. Eli Skaggs split sets at #3 to send his match to a tiebreak of his own that would decide the match. Piedmont jumped out to an early lead in the tiebreak and held on to win the court and the dual match.
