LEXINGTON- IThe Transylvania Men's Lacrosse team played their first home game of the season, hosting Marietta College. The Pioneers would win this game 19-4 as 10 different Pioneers would score in the game. This win pushes the program record against Marietta to 3-0 and is the largest margin of victory Transy has beaten them by. 

Two players would finish the game with 4 goals each, as Andrew Welch would establish a new career high in all categories except ground balls. Welch's 4 goals were made on 5 shots, along with 2 assists giving him 6 points on the day. Casey Fagan would have 2 goals in the 1st quarter and 2 goals in the 3rd quarter , adding an assist to his efforts to earn a new season high in goals.

"Today was a great day to show our progress from playing tough competition." Head Coach Logan Otto said after the win. " What I am most proud of is our ability to display our depth and have multiple scorers and contributors."

The faceoff X was highly productive today, as both Pioneers taking the faceoffs would average just under 80% combined. Parker Rowland went 10-12 and Beck Briggs went 9-12. Defensively the Pioneers held strong in a stingy zone defense which would produce 18 caused turnovers as Ben Marcum would produce 3 of those himself. Junior Brandon Worzel would make his first start today in the cage, saving a career high 8 saves. Otto added: "Many of our men stepped up and got to see success in multiple situations."

Up next: The Pioneers are back in action March 2nd, where they travel to Delaware Ohio as they take on Ohio Wesleyan at 1:00 PM.
