LEXINGTON - Transylvania Baseball earned their first sweep of the season after an 11-1 seven inning win in the final game of the series vs. New Jersey City.
Jacob Moberly pitched a complete game, and struck out seven batters to earn his second win of the season.
Austin Taylor led Transy in hits with four. He had three doubles on the day.
Walter Munday got Transy on the board first with an RBI double to score Taylor.
Henry Mitcham hit his second home run of the series, a three run shot in the third inning to make it a 4-0 game.
New Jersey City cut the deficit to three runs in the fourth, but would not score the rest of the game.
Trent Youngblood bunted with two outs with
Riley Hill on third and beat out the throw for an RBI.
Transy scored four runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 9-1.
Caleb Bowers was hit by a pitch with bases loaded, then
Riley Hill walked with bases loaded. Bowers and Munday would score on a throwing week by the second basemen on a double play attempt.
In the bottom of the sixth with two outs,
Riley Hill gave Transy an 11-1 lead with a two out base hit.
Jacob Moberly sent the Gothic Knights down in order in the seventh to secure the mercy rule win.
The Pioneers continue their hot start to the season at 12-2. Winners of 9 of their last 10, the Pioneers will look to continue their winning ways Wednesday against Spalding. First pitch is set for 6 PM at Legends Stadium.
