Men's Tennis clinch bye in HCAC tournament with 9-0 win against Earlham

LEXINGTON- The Transylvania Men's Tennis team hosted their last regular home season match against Earlham College today at Top Seed Tennis Club. The Pioneers clinched a bye in the HCAC Tournament after defeating the Quakers in a decisive 9-0 sweep. This win sets up a HCAC regular season championship decider on Saturday, the last game of the regular season for the Pioneers. 

In Doubles the Pioneers won with a confident showing in all 3 matches. In #1 Doubles the duo of Arjun Gupta and Chris Kaufmann would win 8-1. In #2 Doubles Jacob Jiranek and Jared Wells would win 8-0, then finishing the sweep with a #3 victory as Ty Crabtree and Eli Skaggs would win 8-2. 

Finishing the sweep in Singles the Pioneers would see victory after a tight #1 Singles match as Chris Kaufmann would show why he was last year's HCAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year after winning 6-0, 3-0, 1-0. This win set up the Pioneers to surge past the Quakers, winning the remaining matches. 

In #2 Singles Alejandro Perez Canedo would win a 6-1, 6-2, followed by a #3 Singles victory as Luke Earlywine would win 6-0, 6-1. #4 Singles was won by Jacob Cooper 6-3, 6-2. #5 Singles would be won by Paul Hughes 6-4, 6-1, finished by a # 6 Singles win as Jack Dodds would finish the route 6-0, 6-4.

The Pioneers now look to their last match of the regular season as they will travel to Rose-Hulman Saturday April 27th, at 11AM. This match up will set up the regular season championship decider.
