Men's Lacrosse fall to Denison as they look to conference play for the rest of the season

LEXINGTON- The Transylvania Men's Lacrosse team was home on a windy day in Lexington as they faced off with the #2 team in Region IV, Denison University. The Pioneers would drop this game against the Big Red, with this being the second time these programs have played, Denison the victor of both with last year being the first time these teams met.
After the loss, coach Logan Otto shared "Our mistakes were magnified and those are things we can learn a ton from…I am proud of our fight and resolve in this game."

Transylvania would have a good day from the faceoff x a the Pioneers would win the majority 17-14. Parker Rowland would go 9 of 14 and have 5 ground balls, then Briggs Beck going 8-17 with 4 ground balls. Defensively Ben Marcum had 2 caused turnovers and 1 ground ball now on a 3 game caused turnover streak earning 8 in the last 3 games. Malachi Sphon who usually plays long stick midfield but saw a healthy amount of both Midfield and close Defense would have another matching season high 2 caused turnovers then adding 3 ground balls. 

Kade Kruger would have his 4th game in a row with multiple goals, tonight Kruger would have 2 goals, 1 assist, 2 caused turnovers, and 1 ground ball. Kruger is now 3rd in scoring for the Pioneers this season with 12 total goals. Luke Hinton would have 2 goals as well today matching his career high for the 4th time this season, finishing the game with 1 ground ball and 1 caused turnover. Tai Stormont and Preston Wienberg would both score 1 goal tonight on 1 shot as these two would wrap up the scoring column for the Pioneers.

Ben Pund would have 16 saves today, now totaling 124 saves, now 3 saves short of moving up to 4th all time with total saves for the Freshman. 

Coach Otto would finish saying "This was an outstanding game for us to prepare for an NCAA tournament caliber team that is the gold standard in the Midwest. This may not have been the result we wanted but it certainly provided a lot of tape to learn from and build from."

The Pioneers will now move into HCLC for the remainder of the regular season with Mount St. Joseph coming to Lexington this Saturday April 6th. This will be Senior day where the Pioneers will recognize Harry Powers before the 4PM game as he is the only senior in the class of '24.
