Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse route MSJ as Harry Powers is celebrated on Senior Day

14 different Pioneers score

LEXINGTON- The Transylvania Men's Lacrosse team celebrated senior day here at Pat Deacon Stadium! In today's matchup against Mount St. Joseph University (MSJ) Lions, the Pioneers would play only their second Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) game dominating the Lions 25-1.

This is the 8th time these programs have matched up as the Pioneers control the series winning all 8 games after today's conclusion. Before the contest, senior Harry Powers '24 was celebrated surrounded by his family, friends, and teammates as the only graduating senior on the team. Powers has provided invaluable experience and team presence as a voice for his teammates on and off the field.

This game was a blow out from the opening whistle on a picture perfect day in Lexington as the Pioneers would score 12 in a row in the first half, then finish the game on a 13-0 run. Adding to this the Transy would go a perfect 3-3 on Man Up opportunities. The Pioneers would see plenty of offensive opportunities this game as 14 different Pioneers would score goals today, the most this season. This would be a day for season and career highs as we start from the faceoff x. Parker Rowland would earn his 3rd start after a successful previous game from the faceoff, with Rowland earning a career high 12 faceoff wins in a single game today, adding 7 ground balls to his performance. From here on out the Pioneers would be perfect from the faceoff as Briggs Beck would go 11-11 to match his second highest win total adding 1 goal and 1 assist to his 8 ground balls, finished by a perfect 5-5 from Freshman Ryan Stachon on faceoffs.

Defensively the Pioneers would host a shut out when the teams were even, only letting in 1 man down goal in totality. Ben Marcum would host a shutout with 1 caused turnover on the day, along with Luke Plummer and Dom Tsourkas would both win their matchups today as Tsourkas would end with 2 caused turnovers and 3 ground balls. This game would see all 4 active goalies see some clock as Jackson Wilson, Benjamin Farley, and Ethan Kroll would all have a shutout. It was plug and play defensively, shown by the effective clearing, with the Pioneers going a perfect 22-22 on clears.
