ANDERSON, Ind. - Transylvania Baseball won their second straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference series after taking game three from the Anderson Ravens 8-3.
Jacob Moberly moved to a perfect 5-0 on the season after going 5 innings strong and allowing just 3 runs and 4 hits while striking out 3 batters.
The bullpen again held their own, shutting down Anderson in the final 4 innings and allowing only 3 hits.
The Pioneers combined for 9 hits on the afternoon, with 4 coming from
Henry Mitcham who led the way for the Transy on offense, going 4-5 with 2 RBI's. He was a triple away from the cycle.
Transylvania scored first on Mitcham's 2 run shot to bring in
Trent Youngblood. The Pioneers would extend the lead to 5-0 a few innings later as
Bryce Dreher tripled in the second inning to score
Zach Forner. In the top of the fourth,
Calvin Schubert hit Transy's second home run of the game down the left field line to score
Trent Pahl and make it 5-0 Transy.
The early 5-0 lead would be too much for Anderson to overcome, as they would score 3 runs in the fourth inning, but would be shutout the rest of the game.
Transy scored 3 runs in the top half of the seventh.
Walter Munday reached safely on a sacrifice bunt thanks to a Raven throwing error, which would plate 2 runs.
Zach Forner grounded out to score
Warren Wilson to make it 8-3 Transy.
The Pioneers continue to roll as of late. Winners of 8 of their last 10, Transy sits at 20-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play. Transy sits in third place in the HCAC standings heading into next weekend's series against Bluffton.
