Skaggs class after win

Men's Tennis advance to HCAC Championship, defeated Anderson 5-0

LEXINGTON- The Transylvania Men's Tennis team has entered the postseason, today competing in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament (HCAC). The Pioneers earned a first round bye after ending the regular season last week. Several Pioneers earned All-Conference honors this past week, most notably Chris Kaufmann winning Player of the Year, his second year in a row winning this honor. In today's contest the Pioneers would win 5-0 after deciding it in 3 singles matches back at Top Seed Tennis Club.

The Pioneers would go 2-1 in Doubles to gain a lead into Singles where the Pioneers would win 3 matches to advance to tomorrow's Championship game. In #1 Doubles Chris Kaufmann and Arjuin Gupta would make short work in their 8-4 victory. The Pioneers would gain the edge with a #2 Doubles victory as Elijah Skaggs and Chase Moreman 8-6. 

In Singles the Pioneers would finish strong as #1 Singles Chris Kaufmann would win a quick 6-2, 6-1 match. With the advantage Eli Skaggs would gain a #3 Singles victory 6-0, 6-3. Finishing the day would be Alejandro Perez Canedo who would seal it as he would win 6-1, 6-2 in #4 Singles. The Pioneers that remained in competition would all be ahead when the match was called. 

The Championship game for Transylvania will be tomorrow, May 5th back at Top Seed Tennis Club at 1PM as the Pioneers play Rose-Hulman in a redemption matchup.
