RICHMOND, IN - The Transylvania Pioneers traveled north on Saturday afternoon to face off against in-conference opponent, Earlham. Transylvania's offense continued to find scoring opportunities and walked away with a 3-1 victory.Â
The Pioneers started the match with three straight shots coming in the opening eight minutes.
Alvaro Gonzalez and
Gus Dickman both tested the Earlham keeper in the following minutes. In the 29th minute,
Dylan Barnes struck first with the opening goal. Transylvania continued to press offensively throughout the remainder of the half.
Transylvania started right where they left off, earning a corner kick in the first two minutes of the second half.
Alvaro Gonzalez found
Dylan Barnes to secure his brace, putting the Pioneers up 2-0 in the 60th minute.
Josh Carr would find the back of the net in the 73rd minute, making it 3-0. Earlham would earn a penalty kick, where the initial shot was saved by
Rex Yantz. The Quakers found the back of the net off the rebound and would make the score 3-1.
Transylvania is set to take on Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, October 15th. Kick off is set for 7:30 PM in Cincinnati, OH. Live Stats and Video will be available via transysports.com.
