Allegheny Outlasts Pioneers In Sunday Matchup

LEXINGTON, KY - Allegheny defeated Transylvania in a stormy afternoon match up at Pat Deacon Stadium Sunday. 

In the opening minutes of the first quarter, the rain began to fall as the teams took the field. Lucy Cohen took the first shot of the afternoon for the Pioneers, but wasn't able to connect. Ruby Himes deflected Allegheny's first shot attempt, but late in the first quarter the Gators would land a goal to take a one point lead into the second quarter. Avery Hoover found a shot opportunity in the second quarter, but it connected with the post. Charlotte Thompson took a shot for the Pioneers, but Allegheny deflected the shot. Allegheny would score their second goal of the afternoon in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, and would ultimately take the victory at Pat Deacon Stadium. Ruby Himes recorded five saves in the goal for the Pioneers.

Transylvania returns to Pat Deacon Stadium on Wednesday, October 22nd at 4:30 p.m. to host DePauw.
